1. Providing a safe and secure living environment
We work with the Georgia State University Police Department to provide crime prevention services, emergency management, key control and safety escorts. Campus Police also partner with Atlanta Police Department (APD) officers to patrol Georgia State’s downtown Atlanta Campus and respond to emergencies.
2. Creating a sense of belonging and school pride
We work to create opportunities for student involvement and participation to support personal, social and intellectual development of students.
3. Providing quality student-centered facilities.
We maximize the investment of financial resources and functions as an accountable steward of university resources.
4. Encouraging student engagement through meaningful relationships
We foster a sense of community among and between residents, staff and faculty to support and complement the academic mission of the university.
5. Supporting the academic mission of the university
We provide opportunities for self-awareness, practical competence, cultural competence and community engagement — the learning goals of the University Housing residential curriculum.
We foster an on-campus living-learning community that gives students opportunities for leadership, social development, and inclusive and purposeful collaboration through interactions among those from diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences.
Our research shows that living on campus has a positive influence on a student’s grade point average, level of involvement in campus activities and satisfaction with the college experience.
