RETURNING STUDENT APPLICATION
As you begin to think about the next academic year at Georgia State, we hope you'll consider returning to on-campus housing. Please read the information below regarding the application process prior to starting your application.
Housing Availability
*Students should know that there is limited housing available for returning Georgia State undergraduate and graduate students. University Housing does not guarantee housing.
- Current Residents Only: Fall 2025 - Spring 2026 housing application opens January 21-28, 2025 for lottery eligibility.
- All Returning Students: Fall 2025 - Spring 2026 housing application opens February 3, 2025.
University Housing uses a lottery system for current spring semester residents wishing to return to on-campus housing for the upcoming academic year. The lottery system enables University Housing to offer a more equitable process considering the high demand for housing. Additionally, it lessens the load on the system itself, which assists in preventing system crashes.
Interested in Joining a Living-Learning Community (LLC)?
Upperclass students have the option to live in select LLCs. You can complete an LLC application within the housing application via the MyHousing portal.
For information on our LLCs – what they are and where they are located – visit our living-learning community webpage.
Eligibility for the Housing Room Selection Lottery
Current spring residents who submit a Fall 2025-Spring 2026 Housing Application and reservation fee of $250 between Noon, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, and 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, will be eligible for the lottery. Any applications received after 5 p.m., Jan. 28, 2025, will not be considered for the room selection lottery and will automatically be on a waitlist.
With this process, it is important to note that being among the first to apply does not guarantee you a room assignment, lottery selection or specific room type. Anyone who applies during the timeframe listed above (Jan. 21-28, 2025) has the same chance to be selected for the lottery.
From the applications submitted Jan. 21-28, University Housing will randomly select 2200 current spring resident applications to participate in the Returning Resident Fall 2025-Spring 2026 Housing Room Selection Lottery.
University Housing will notify applicants (via email) regarding their selection for the Room Selection Lottery or Waitlist via their GSU student email.
Returning Resident Room Selection Lottery
For those who are selected in the lottery, you will be randomly assigned a date/time for Room Selection. Prior to room selection, there will also be a roommate selection process – specific details will be sent after the lottery selection is complete.
Waitlist Returning Resident
Those not selected for the Returning Resident Housing Room Selection Lottery will be placed on a returning resident waiting list. Students will be offered rooms as they become available due to cancellations. Being on the waitlist does not guarantee housing. Waitlisted students are eligible for a refund of the reservation fee if University Housing is unable to offer a room AND the termination form is submitted.
