CURRENT RESIDENTS
All residents must complete the Fire Safety Module accessible via iCollege and the Resident Information Form on the StarRez portal. Failure to complete these items may result in deactivation of your resident access card, requiring verification prior to entering the residence halls.
University Housing Services
Lockouts & Access Cards
Access cards are to be used only by University Housing residents. Access cards open all entrance and exit gates for the building to which the resident is assigned. Residents are issued a key that will open the apartment and bedroom doors. In the event of a misplaced or lost key, students should go to the Community Desk to check out a spare key. Residents who cannot access entry points due to defective cards should call the Community Desk or the police sub-station from an outside phone to report the problem immediately. Residents are expected to carry their access cards with them at all times.
Spare Keys
A resident must present a photo ID to check out a spare key. Spare keys are only issued to the resident of that specific room. No resident will be granted access to another resident's room for any reason.
The spare key should be returned to the Community Desk by 9:30 a.m. the next day. If it is not returned by this point, it will be considered lost, and the student will be charged $95. A resident may check out a spare key three times a semester at no cost. After that, all spare key checkouts will carry a $50 service charge.
Lost Access Cards
Residents should report misplaced or lost access cards immediately to the Community Desk so they can be deactivated and replaced.
Judicial action may be taken against a resident who fails to report a lost card that is then used to illegally enter a building or a residence hall. Access cards are not to be given to any person other than the resident to whom they are issued. A replacement card costs $45.
Parking
Parking decks are secured and monitored by police 24/7. Residents are given access cards to gain entry into assigned decks. Illegally or improperly parked vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense. Contact University Housing by email or through the Community Desk for information regarding towed vehicles. Georgia State assumes no responsibility for vehicles or protection of any vehicle or its contents at any time.
University Lofts, Piedmont North, Piedmont Central and University Commons Residents
Parking at the Commons, Lofts, and Piedmont North is open to all students who live on campus. Student resident Parking is $400 per semester, and the charge will be billed to the student’s account.
There is a capacity of 700 parking spaces in the University Commons deck, 230 parking spaces at Piedmont North, and 270 parking spaces in the University Lofts. Motorcycle spaces are also available upon request and are billed half the rate of a car space. Residents requesting motorcycle space should indicate that on the parking application.
The students that desire Parking at Piedmont North, Commons, and the Lofts must complete the online parking application by logging into the MyHousing (Student SSO Login) using their campus ID, under the Personal Preferences tab and completing the questions related to their vehicle.
Patton Hall, Greek Housing or University Lofts Residents
Residents of Patton Hall, Greek Housing or University Lofts should contact University Housing at 404-413-1800. Move-in for the fall semester will take place August 16-19 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. More information will be provided via email to residents with a confirmed housing assignment.
Parking Cancellation
Residents who wish to cancel their parking may do so in University Housing at 75 Piedmont Ave., Suite 110, by completing a Parking Cancellation Request Form and turning in their parking decal if applicable. Once parking has been canceled, residents will be charged for the number of days they parked plus an $80 cancellation fee.
Safety
Security is a priority for University Housing. The Georgia State University Police Department and University Housing staff members are available 24/7 to make sure students feel safe. All residence halls have controlled access and are equipped with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Georgia State is proud to have been a part of downtown Atlanta for 100 years. The university’s proactive approach to safety and crime prevention has succeeded in minimizing criminal activity on campus and promoting greater awareness and security.
Security Goals
Through a commitment to a strong internal police department, and in coordination with downtown partners, the goal of University Police is to do everything possible to ensure the safety and security of the people on Georgia State campus whether they live, work or visit.

Technology Services
The Residential Network (ResNet) is managed by the University Housing Information Technology Services, whose mission is to provide high-quality ResNet services to University Housing residents and guests. Apogee is the provider for cable, high-speed internet and telephone service.
Note: Residents may not tamper with data hardware, splice or split cable or mount outdoor antennae or satellite equipment anywhere on the facilities.
High Speed Internet Service
Georgia State University has partnered with Apogee to provide wireless and wired internet service and support to all of our residence halls. To make sure you're connected, follow the steps below to ensure you are registered for service!
First Time Connecting a Device
- Go to the Apogee ResNet Portal: https://gsu.apogee.us/
- Click the "Sign In" button and enter your school-provided credentials to create a new account.
- The next page will show you your WiFi Password or Pre-Shared Key (PSK) - copy this.
- Complete the Account creation process. Sign out of the portal.
- Go to the Wireless settings on your device and connect to the “MyResNet 5G” SSID. (Only Select “MyResNet 2G” if 5G does not show up.)
- Join the SSID with your WiFi password and click to auto-join this SSID.
- To add more devices to the network, simply go to the wireless settings on each device and repeat steps 5 and 6 above.
- If you connected originally via the “Start Here” network, go to your device WiFi settings and choose to Forget that network.
Helpful Tips
- MyResNet-5G: Connect to MyResnet-5G for the fastest WiFi connection. This should be your default setting.
- Wired: If you choose to use wired you must register your device with the Ethernet MAC address and plug your ethernet cable into the port on the underside of access point located in your room.
- Laptop Drivers: Outdated drivers, specifically many Intel drivers, could be impacting your connection or speed. Update your driver to ensure optimal performance.
- Wireless Printers: Wireless printers cause wireless interference. Apogee recommends wireless printers be added to your additional device list by MAC address in your portal or connected directly via USB printer cable. Once completed, be sure to turn off any wireless signal/radio broadcasting from your printer.

Apply for University Housing
University Housing is introducing a new process for current spring residents to renew for the upcoming academic year (2024-2025).
Submit a Fall 2024-Spring 2025 Housing Application and reservation fee of $250 between Noon, Monday, January 22, 2024, and 5 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2024. Any applications received after 5 p.m., January 26, 2024, will not be considered for the room selection lottery and will automatically be on a waitlist.
With this process, it is important to note that being among the first to apply does not guarantee you a room assignment, lottery selection, or specific room type. Anyone who applies during the timeframe listed above (Jan 22-26, 2024) has the same chance to be selected for the lottery.
University Housing will notify applicants (via email) regarding their selection for the Room Selection Lottery or Waitlist no later than the end of business day on January 30, 2024.
Returning Resident Room Selection Lottery: For those who are selected in the lottery, you will be randomly assigned a date/time in February for Room Selection. Prior to room selection, there will also be a roommate selection process – more details will be sent once the lottery selection is complete.
Waitlist Returning Resident: Those not selected for the Returning Resident Housing Room Selection Lottery will be placed on a returning resident waiting list. Students will be assigned to rooms as they become available due to cancellations. Being on the waitlist does not guarantee housing. Waitlisted students are eligible for a refund of the reservation fee if University Housing is unable to offer a room AND termination form is submitted.
