Campus Living
University Housing is not accepting any additional applications for summer 2020. Additionally, if you have moved out of University Housing, you are not eligible to return for the remainder of summer 2020.
For those approved to stay in housing for summer 2020, the move out date is Saturday, August 1. Detailed information will be sent to residents' GSU student email account on specific move-out procedures. Students who have a confirmed housing assignment for fall 2020 may be qualified to remain in housing for the month of August. More details are forthcoming once fall 2020 plans are finalized.
University Housing cannot provide medical care. We encourage students who are experiencing symptoms of the flu or coronavirus to return home and seek medical care with their primary care physicians or at the University’s Student Health Clinic.
The CDC provides guidance on environmental cleaning and disinfection recommendation. Residents should disinfect their own spaces using these guidelines.
We are following regular updates from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). As new information emerges, University Housing will follow the recommended actions as directed by these entities. University Housing has been cleaning high traffic points such as doorknobs, handrails, drinking fountains, elevators, laundry facilities, etc. even more frequently than usual. Additionally, residents can expect to see the following:
- Sanitizing stations throughout the residence halls
- Plexi-glass shields at high service areas
- Staff wearing PPE
- Educational materials provided to staff and students on social distancing, cleaning rooms, proper ways to wear and care for PPE
- Maximum occupancy for common spaces, lounges, learning centers and laundry rooms
- Water fountains turned off except for bottle filling stations
- Adjustments to health & safety inspection procedures
- Protocols for staff entering students rooms
Developments related to COVID-19 are challenging to predict that far in advance, specifically for our campus environment. There is a possibility, should the virus worsen or experience a second wave that an early move-out could occur. We are working on plans for this should the need arise. University Housing will provide as much notice as we are able.
Housing applications are still open for fall 2020. However, there are currently waitlists in place for all applicants and on-campus housing cannot be guaranteed.
At the current time, spring 2021 plans would mirror fall 2020 plans. However, developments related to COVID-19 can affect spring 2021 and it is too early to provide definitive details for spring 2021. Additionally, deferring an application to spring 2021 does not guarantee a space on campus.
Early move-in is only permitted for certain groups such as athletes and international students. These arrangements are made directly with coaches and program directors.
In an effort to prioritize the health and safety of our students, residents are strongly encouraged to get tested prior to moving in. If you test positive, per public health department mandates, you are to isolate at home before moving in to the residence halls.
Room change requests are not being fulfilled at this time.
For those on the waitlist for fall 2020, we encourage you to seek alternative housing because on-campus housing cannot be guaranteed. We invite you to seek assistance from our off-campus housing support by visiting their site or emailing offcampus@gsu.edu.
Yes, there are currently waitlists in place for both new and continuing students. For continuing (upperclass) students, any applications received on or after February 13, 2020, are on the waitlist and for new (first-year) students, any applications received on or after June 25, 2020, are on the waitlist. Students can view their waitlist number by visiting the MyHousing portal.
Move-in plans are in progress with procedural adjustments due to COVID-19. Once assignments are finalized, full detailed instructions will be emailed to your GSU student email. However, residents and families can expect the following:
- Expanded move-in time frame; we expect move-in to begin August 15, 2020 and go through August 23, 2020.
- Residents will be required to sign up for a move-in time, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on the dates listed above.
- Centralized check-in location (GSU Stadium parking lot).
- Completion of education modules and forms prior to arrival to campus.
- Wearing of masks.
- No more than two (2) individuals to assist with move-in.
- No move-in volunteers.
- No bins provided; please bring your own cart to help with move-in.
- Social distancing measures.
Room rates are published on the University Housing website for 2020-2021. Some housing room rates have been adjusted due to reduced occupancy and will be communicated directly to residents.
Please complete your roommate selection process quickly as it will close on Sunday, June 12, 2020.
University Housing will be at approximately 75% occupancy using the following criteria:
- No more than two people sharing a bathroom
- No more than four people in an apartment
- Minimal shared room options
First-year residents will receive room selection instructions during the week of July 20th via their Georgia State student email.
For continuing students whose room assignment has been affected by reduced occupancy, staff from our assignments team will be following up directly via their Georgia State student email during the week of July 13, 2020 about next steps regarding change(s) to your room type and/or room rate.
Yes. University Housing as implemented additional restrictions in order to comply with CDC guidelines. The restrictions include, but are not limited to the following:
- No guests are permitted in University Housing.
- Residents only have access to their assigned residence hall and other spaces as needed for mailroom access.
- Refrain from all social gatherings/parties.
- Practice social distancing – maintain a distance of 6 feet from others; avoid gatherings of 10+ people.
- Use of community rooms, lounges and learning centers will be adjusted for social distancing – adjustments include closure of rooms, reduced seating, etc.
- Residents are required to wear masks in public spaces, elevators and other spaces where social distancing cannot be maintained (though not in their assigned rooms and suites).
University Housing is still moving forward with plans to offer housing for 2020-2021. Housing applications are currently open. To apply for housing please login to the MyHousing portal. A deposit of $350 is due upon submitting your housing application. Waitlists are currently in place for both continuing and new students.
Complete a Parking Cancellation Request Form and turn in the parking decal if applicable to University Housing at 75 Piedmont Avenue, Suite 110. Once parking has been cancelled, students will be charged for the number of days they parked, plus an $80 cancellation fee.
Parking for University Lofts, Patton Hall and Greek Housing can be obtained through the Campus Services or call 404-413-9500 for rates.
Parking costs $400 per semester. The fee is billed to Student Accounts like tuition and fees. For additional information on parking, refer to Housing Services.
Parking for fall and spring semesters opens in June. Students can sign up for parking at University Commons and Piedmont North through MyHousing account under personal information. After all the parking preferences are filled in, submitted parking decals can be picked up in University Housing at 75 Piedmont Avenue, Suite 110.

Academic Year Meal Plans are required for students who reside in Patton Hall and Piedmont North. University Commons and University Lofts residents may purchase the unlimited all you can eat meal plan per semester through PantherDining.

Yes. Family housing is located in University Lofts. Students should indicate on their application their need for family housing. Once a student has contacted University Housing, he or she should fill out Lofts Family Housing Authorized Occupant Form (PDF) and provide a copy of the child's birth certificate and/or marriage certificate for married residents.
Move In & Move Out dates are published by University Housing. Details also will be sent to the student's official Georgia State University email account.

Room availability will depend on the time and date that a student applies for housing. Spaces and specific room types are limited. University Housing staff will attempt to take student preferences into account. However, University Housing cannot guarantee a specific unit, space, rate, complex, facility or assignment.
Housing fees must be received by Student Accounts no later than 5 p.m. on the day tuition and fees are due.
There are no payment plans. Payments are made on a semester basis and must be paid when fees are due to the university.
Room rates vary depending on the room type and the number of roommates within a room or suite. View the current Rates.
Applicants can check their housing application status any time via their MyHousing account.
There are no deadlines to apply for housing. However, spaces and specific room types are limited. Room selection times will depend on the date and time a student applies for housing. University Housing encourages students to apply early through MyHousing.
Applicants will receive all communication from University Housing via their official Georgia State University email account.
A student under the age of 18 will be able to apply online. They must also print out the housing contract and return it to the central housing office signed by the student and their parent or legal guardian.

Complete the Housing application through MyHousing and pay the nonrefundable $350 room reservation fee. The fee must be paid online with a credit or debit card. Partial payments will not be accepted.
