Why Live On Campus?
University Housing provides opportunities for student growth and development through educational, cultural, recreational, and social programs presented in our living & learning communities. If your student chooses to live in University Housing, he or she will meet more people — guaranteed. Living on campus will give your student a greater sense of connection with the University and with the people they will meet.
Still wondering why we think being part of our residential community will enhance your student’s experience at Georgia State University? Here are just a few reasons why our staff and 4100 residents would ask, “Why live anywhere else?”
When you live on campus one price includes furniture, utilities, cable, internet, and laundry. Choose between a meal plan, dining downtown at over 300 restaurants or preparing your own food in your own kitchen, available in many of our residence halls. And of course you’ll enjoy an easy walk to classes, the libraries, shopping, dining, exercising and other recreational areas.
Living on campus creates more opportunities to meet new people and develop lasting friendships. Take advantage of communal dining, athletics, concerts, films, lectures, study groups and student organizations. Social, educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities are available in all housing locations. While there’s always something to take part in at any given time, you’ll always get to choose your level of involvement.
Research concludes that living on-campus has a positive influence on a student’s grade point average, level of involvement in campus activities, retention at the University, and satisfaction with his or her collegiate experience. While on campus, take advantage of study groups, additional instruction, advisement and career services. These services, skills, and attention of our full-time, professional staff, are available for advice or referrals on just about any topic from personal problems to career decisions.
