Senior Staff Bios

University Housing senior staff is comprised of dedicated professional, support and student staff members who are responsible for providing residential living programs and coordinating all services for resident students.

Randy Brown Director of University Housing

Randy_BrownRandy was born and raised in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and received a bachelor’s degree in business management. His undergraduate involvement in student government at the University of Arkansas inspired him to get a master of education from the University of Vermont. His higher education and student affairs degree prepared him for his first job as a hall director at Florida State University. He now calls Georgia State University home.

Shannon Corey Associate Director, Residence Life

Shannon CoreyShannon’s focus areas in student affairs include residential curriculum, assessment and professional development/adults in the workplace.  Shannon received her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Old Dominion University.  She has over 12 years of professional experience in student affairs, and residence life in particular and is also certified in bystander intervention training and behavior-based interviewing.  Shannon is excited to continue her learning as she pursues her doctorate in Adult Education at the University of Georgia. She also remains active in various professional organizations including National Association of Student Personnel Administration (NASPA) and Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I). On a personal note, Shannon loves dogs and especially her two rescues, Cagney and Sam.

Sharon German Westfield Assistant Director for Business Services and Financial Operations

Sharon GermanSharon German Westfield has 20 years of budget and financial experience at Georgia State University. Sharon received a bachelor of arts from Spelman College, a bachelor of business administration from Georgia State University and a masters of business administration from Southern Polytechnic University.

Roderick Padilla Assistant Director for IT Services

Roderick PadillaRod is a 27-year IT veteran at Georgia State University. Rod has more than 35 years of information technology innovation and state-of-the art systems experience in academia and private industry. He speaks and writes fluently in both English and Spanish and works closely with the Latino community in Georgia. His hobbies include ham radio, baseball, soccer and music.

Steve Boswell Associate Director for Operations

Steve BoswellSteve was born and raised in south Georgia. He has 40 plus years of experience (public and private) in construction and maintenance, including projects ranging from heavy industrial to student housing. He is a Georgia State University veteran, spending the last seven and a half years in the Facilities Design and Construction Department as a senior project manager. He enjoys outdoor recreation and spending time with his three granddaughters.

Marc Ebelhar Assistant Director for Residence Life, University Commons

Marc_EbelharMarc has over 10 years’ experience serving as a student affairs professional with a primary focus in housing and residence life. He earned a B.A. in economics and political science from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky and a M.Ed. in higher education and student affairs at the University of South Carolina. He has worked professionally at Elmhurst College, Florida International University and Bowling Green State University. Marc serves on the NASPA (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators) Region III Advisory Board and is national Co-Chair of the NASPA Campus Safety and Violence Prevention Knowledge Community.

Zduy Chu Assistant Director, Residential Student Success and Retention

Zduy_ChuZduy Chu was born in Oklahoma, raised in Arkansas and spent the last five years at the University of California, Santa Barbara as a student leadership coordinator. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in marketing management in 2004 and a master’s degree in higher education and leadership in 2006. He loves to travel and taught on the Summer 2010 Semester At Sea Voyage around the Mediterranean. One of his passions is working with students and helping them achieve success inside and outside of the classroom.
